When browsing the CoolWorks site for new jobs in Great Places, you'll find two primary types of job posts:
- An Employer Profile
- A Job Listing
Both types of posts represent available jobs and employers that are currently accepting applications, but they are represented different visually on the site and contain unique information. This article will dive in to the primary features of each.
Employer Profile
An Employer Profile is a post that includes comprehensive information on working for that employer. You'll learn about the employer's culture, history, what life is like spending a season with them, how to get there, what employees do for fun, room & board details, literally everything you could want to know before applying - including, of course, what positions they're hiring for! At the bottom of every Employer Profile you'll find instructions on How to Apply, as well as links to the employer's application.
Employers post profiles on CoolWorks for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months at a time. Over longer terms, an employer profile may move farther down the list on any page of job posts, but that doesn't mean they aren't hiring or aren't interested in learning more about you. Many employers hire throughout the entire season or accept applications for their next season, so if you find an employer that looks like a great fit, don't hesitate to drop them a line - if they're on the site, they want to hear from you!
When you're browsing the different categories, locations, and search results, Employer Profiles will be indicated by a vertical icon, as shown here:
The Job Listing
A Job Listing is a post for open positions for which the employer is actively accepting applications. Job Listings run for a shorter amount of time (7 - 30 days) and contain concise information about the employer, their location, the position(s) they're hiring for, and How to Apply.
Keep in mind, some positions may start immediately, and some may not start for a few weeks or even months. Most employers hire and fill positions well ahead of their start date to make sure they've got a full roster come opening day and to give people enough time to travel to their great place (It takes a minute and a little bit of planning to get from Florida to Alaska!). Either way, if an employer has posted a Job Listing on CoolWorks, they are actively accepting applications.
A Job Listing is indicated by a horizontal icon on the category, location, and search result pages, as seen here:
