One very common question we get from job seekers: Can I bring my pet?
Each of us on the CoolWorks team has at least one furry friend at home – so we understand wanting to include them in an upcoming adventure. However, most seasonal employers offer a shared housing situation and the units can be small by human standards. When you bring your pet into a tight shared space, then in essence your roommate has a pet too.
This issue can get even more complicated with pet allergies, and your roommate not having the level of care and responsibility towards your pet as you do. Throw in the likelihood of opposite work schedules, the potential for fewer creature comforts such as A/C, and a seasonal job might not be a very fun or enjoyable experience for your pet.
With that said, if you’re still wanting to search for seasonal employers who may be able to accommodate you and your beloved furry pal, you can search for employers who have stated that they’re potentially pet friendly by using the FIND A JOB tab at the top of the page, then click on SEARCH – one of the options you’ll see is PET FRIENDLY. Searching the site with this keyword will greatly assist you in finding employers that might be a good fit for you
Also, if you’re an RVer or Van Lifer, some employers who offer campsites allow pets. You’ll of course need to adhere to their site policies which sometimes include National or State Park policies as well. Keep in mind, if you’re working in a National Park, domestic animals are often not allowed on trails, so your off-hours possibilities will be limited. Lastly, another option would be to seek out an employer who does not offer a housing/room and board situation on site, and then you will just need to locate housing in the community that permits pets.
